Platinum Products from XRF Scientific: Selection, RFQ, and Purchase
Tailored performance and longevity combine in XRF Scientific’s range of platinum products for high-technology and analytical applications. We supply a range of laboratory accessories based around a core selection of precious metals and platinum (Pt) alloys, ensuring the optimal intersection of properties that are essential to the customer.
This blog post will explore the purchasing journey of typical XRF Scientific customers, and hopefully answer any questions you might have about selecting, pricing, and buying our platinum products and precious metal analytical accessories.
Selecting Platinum Products and Precious Metal Labware
The typical buying process for XRF Scientific customers begins with platinum product selection, provided that their specifications are met by one of our standard product configurations. Our ready-to-order laboratory accessories are generally comprised of one of the following materials:
- Gold: Labware comprised of gold (Au) is ideal for hydrofluoric acid treatment of silica-based minerals, but we also offer a broad range of semi-finished gold products including wires and rods.
- Silver: Pure silver (Ag) labware can be used in fusion applications with alkali hydroxide. It is also available in semi-finished formats.
- Platinum: Pure platinum (Pt) has been exploited in high-temperature scientific applications for over 200 years, and it remains one of the preferred materials for fusion crucibles.
- Platinum 5% Gold: This alloy is the golden standard for fusion labware due to its elevated melting point (1780—1850°C) and non-wetting properties.
- Platinum—Rhodium: Available with either 90/96.5% platinum, platinum-rhodium (Rh) boast greater hardness and strength for enhanced mechanical stability and long-term performance through multiple heavy-duty use cycles.
- Platinum-Gold-Rhodium (90-5-5): Combining the benefits of each material, this alloy is ideal for fabricating platinum products intended for use in extremely harsh operating conditions.
Alongside a catalog of semi-finished precious metal and platinum products, XRF Scientific supplies a suite of standard configuration beakers, crucibles, and molds for x-ray fluorescence (XRF) and inductively-coupled plasma (ICP) sample preparation. Read our previous blog post to explore the full Range of Platinum Crucibles available from XRF Scientific.
However, we understand that the needs of contemporary customers are often best-suited to a bespoke solution. We will happily assist in the development of tailor-made platinum products based on our core material expertise.
Custom Platinum Products and RFQs
After browsing our proprietary range of platinum products, customers are invited to submit requests for quotes (RFQs) on any of our standard product pages. Fill in a few details including any necessary measurements, operating parameters, or questions, and one of our customer service representatives will respond as soon as possible.
Feel free to submit queries about custom platinum products and we will ensure that your RFQ is directed to the appropriate representative. We can then help you design and manufacture tailored laboratory apparatuses with properties customized to your unique specifications. Parameters we can fine-tune include product corrosion resistance, ductility, geometry, melting point, oxidation resistance, and temperature strength.
